Industrial Bag Filter

Balkrishna provides next-generation de-dusting solutions with our advanced Pulse Jet Bag Filters (also known as Hose Bag Filters). While the core concept of fabric filtration has existed for over a century, our modern designs have revolutionized the process to offer superior filter bag life, lower emission levels, and significantly reduced power consumption.

Our customized bag filters are engineered to handle high-volume airflows, temperatures exceeding ambient levels, and challenging particulate matter that standard filters cannot manage.

How the Pulse Jet Filtration System Works

The filtration process utilizes vertically placed tubular filter fabrics (both woven and non-woven). To prevent the bags from collapsing under vacuum or pressure, each bag is supported by a precision-engineered metal cage fitted with a venturi.

  • Filtration: Dust-laden air enters the housing, and solids are trapped on the exterior of the filter bags.
  • Cleaning Cycle: As the "dust cake" builds up, the bags are cleaned row-by-row using short-timed pulses of compressed air. This can be done online (during operation) or offline.
  • The Venturi Effect: A built-in venturi at the top of each cage induces additional air from the clean air plenum, multiplying the cleaning air volume for a more effective "pulse."
  • Discharge: The cracked dust cake falls into the collection hopper at the bottom, where it is discharged continuously or periodically through a specialized removal device.

The Balkrishna Advantage

Our "New Age" de-dusting designs provide measurable benefits over conventional filters:

  • Lower Pressure Drops: Optimized airflow paths reduce resistance, leading to significant energy savings.
  • Higher Air-to-Cloth Ratios: Handle more air with a smaller filter footprint, saving valuable factory floor space.
  • Enhanced Bag Life: Gentle yet effective cleaning pulses reduce mechanical wear on the fabric.
  • Superior Emission Control: Achieve ultra-low particulate discharge to meet strict environmental regulations.

Technical Applications & Industry Use

Balkrishna’s Bag Filters are the preferred choice for industries where air purity and material recovery are vital:

  • Cement & Steel: For handling high-volume abrasive dust and kiln emissions.
  • Chemical & Pharma: For recovering expensive powder products and maintaining cleanroom standards.
  • Food Processing: For collecting flour, sugar, or spice dust during bulk handling.
  • Woodworking: For efficient sawdust and wood chip extraction.
  • Power Plants: For fly ash collection and flue gas cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Industrial Bag Filter

Online cleaning pulses the bags while the fan is still pulling air through the filter. Offline cleaning isolates a specific compartment (using dampers) before pulsing, which is often more effective for very fine or lightweight dust that might otherwise re-settle on the bags.

Bag life depends on the material being filtered and the operating temperature. However, BALKRISHNA’S optimized pressure drop and cleaning cycles typically extend bag life to 2–4 years in standard operating conditions.

The venturi is located at the top of the bag cage. It creates a vacuum effect during the pulse of compressed air, pulling in "secondary" air from the clean plenum. This multiplies the cleaning force, ensuring the entire length of the bag is cleaned effectively.

Yes. By using specialized filter media such as Nomex, Ryton, or P84, we can design bag filters that operate safely at temperatures exceeding 200°C.

The ratio depends on the dust concentration and particle size. Our engineers calculate the optimal ratio to ensure you get the best performance without needing an unnecessarily large (and expensive) filter housing.
